Official Selection, The Other Israel FF

In this deliriously dark comedy, Makram Khoury (the youngest artist to ever win The Israel Prize) plays Sallah, an Arab Christian entrepreneur who is stealthily grabbing the candy market away from his main Israeli competitor, Klausner, who resents Sallah as a threat to not only his business, but to Zionism itself. With enough quirky characters, betrayal and homicide for a season of The Sopranos, coupled with a masterful cinematic style, belly laughs are served up with a heavy dose of gravitas.

“Pichhadze offers a unique perspective in his analysis and portrayal of the spiraling violence between Israelis and Palestinians — in this case, over nothing more than greed.”
