From a tough neighborhood in New Orleans to the famed Habimah Theater in the heart of Tel Aviv, this is the remarkable, inspirational story of the American singer Princess Shaw and the Israeli composer, musician and video artist Kutiman. Unbeknownst to her, while sitting at his computer on his kibbutz creating mash-ups of amateur YouTube performers, discovers Princess. Drawn by her raw sound and emotion, he begins to weave his remix magic with orchestration from others, and before you know it, more than one viral song, and an Israeli star, is born.
Two years ago, Chicago native Samantha Montgomery was an elder-care worker in New Orleans who wrote, sang and recorded original songs on YouTube. She called her online persona Princess Shaw. An audio/video mash up artist in Israel, Kutiman, discovered Princess, put orchestrations to her music, and reposted them. They went viral, as documented in Presenting Princess Shaw by Ido Haar.
